Fly to Houston
April 8th, 2008The Houston Airport System is in charge of the three airports in Houston, Texas: the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, William P. Hobby Airport, and Ellington Field. Bush Intercontinental is the largest of the three and handles domestic as well as international flights to destinations in Europe, Asia, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, Central America, South America, and chartered flights to Africa. If you fly to Houston on Continental Airlines, you’ll probably land at Bush Intercontinental since this airport is the airline’s largest hub. Continental Airlines averages more than 700 flights a day in this Houston airport.
William P. Hobby Airport is the oldest commercial airport in Houston and currently handles domestic flights although it also functions as a point of entry for general aviation activity between Texas and Mexico. Passengers who fly to Houston in low-fare carriers are catered in this airport. William P. Hobby Airport is also preferred by business travelers who fly to Houston on shorter routes from other parts of the country. Some of the airlines that operate at Hobby are AirTran Airways, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and JetBlue Airways.
Ellington Field was originally established as a training field and airbase of the US Air Force. It currently functions as a civil-military facility that caters to commercial, military, NASA, and general aviation flights. Ellington Field is one of the few pre-World War I airports that are still operational today.
The Houston Airport System has launched its newly designed website that caters to people who fly to Houston. In their site, you can check the scheduled flights, familiarize yourself with the airport grounds in their maps, and even download flight information to your mobile phone or Blackberry. With these modern features, you won’t have to face much hassle if you plan to fly to Houston.
